- Ages: 2–5 yrs · Difficulty: easy · Mess: medium
- Time: prep 20 min, activity 20 min
- Works for: one-on-one, small group, whole class · one batch serves about 1 kids
- Skills: fine-motor, size-sequencing, drawing, art
- Cautions: ingestion-risk

## Materials (one batch)
- 2 piece Large cotton rounds
- 2 piece Small cotton rounds
- 1 sheet Blue construction paper
- Glue
- 1 piece Paintbrush for spreading glue (optional)
- Markers (black, brown, orange)
- Small beads
- 3 piece Pom poms
- 1 piece Red felt
- White glitter (optional)
- 1 piece Scissors (household)

## Safety
- Beads and pom poms are small parts and a choking hazard. Supervise closely, especially with toddlers who still mouth things.
- Adult does the cutting of cotton rounds and felt.
- Keep glitter away from eyes and mouths, and wash hands after.

## Before you start
- Trim one large cotton round per child into a middle-sized circle.
- Cut a small hat shape from a cotton round for each child.
- Cut a red felt strip for each scarf.

## Steps
1. Lay out two sizes of cotton rounds; trim a large one to make the middle circle.
2. Color in the cotton-round hat with a black marker.
3. Line up the three snowman circles on blue construction paper, biggest at the bottom.
4. Glue the circles and the hat onto the paper.
5. Draw the snowman's eyes and stick arms with a marker.
6. Adult draws a small mouth; glue beads along the line.
7. Glue on pom poms for buttons and a red felt strip for the scarf.
8. Shred cotton rounds and stick the cotton along the bottom for snow.
9. Sprinkle white glitter over the top to finish the winter scene.

## Tips
- Aligning the snowman circles on the paper is good exercise, and so is gluing beads along the mouth line.
- My toddler girl only sporadically joined in, so her version was just the circles with beads for eyes and buttons.
- Cotton rounds/pads are available at all drugstores (in the skin care aisle). I actually found mine at a major supermarket.

## FAQ
**Where do you get cotton rounds?** They're sold at drugstores in the skin care aisle; the author found hers at a major supermarket.

I may look like a flake (no pun) for doing a snowman craft right in the middle of the Valentine’s day season. But the kid just had a big (fake)snow day at school and we are part of a cool bloghop brought to you a bunch of amazing bloggers. So here is our one and only snowman craft for the season. I figure there are many places where it is in the middle of snow season.

[](https://www.funlittles.com/?attachment_id=6064) I used 2 sizes of cotton rounds and just cut the larger one to make the middle circle. I cut out a small hat using a cotton round and Big A colored it in. We then aligned the snowman circles ( good exercise) on a blue construction paper and glued the circles and the hat on. Big A also drew the eyes and the hands for the snowman. I drew a small mouth and she glued on beads on the line (again, good exercise)

[](https://www.funlittles.com/?attachment_id=6065) She glued on pom poms for buttons and a red felt cloth for the scarf. My toddler girl also sporadically participated in the activity To turn the snowman craft into a winter scene, she shredded the cotton rounds and stuck the cotton on the bottom and liberally applied white glitter on the top.
