- Ages: 3–6 yrs · Difficulty: easy · Mess: low
- Time: prep 20 min, activity 20 min
- Works for: one-on-one, small group, whole class · one batch serves about 1 kids
- Skills: fine-motor, cutting, gluing, upcycling, pretend-play

## Materials (one batch)
- 1 piece Styrofoam bowl
- 1 piece Pipe cleaner
- 1 sheet Construction paper (yellow for the chick, white for the bunny)
- 2 piece Googly eyes
- 1 piece Cotton ball (household)
- Easter grass
- Plastic Easter eggs (optional)
- 1 piece Paper punch (household)
- Scissors (household)
- Glue (household)

## Safety
- Googly eyes, cotton balls and plastic eggs are small parts. Supervise closely with kids who still mouth things.
- Pipe cleaner ends can poke. Twist or tuck the ends after making the handle.
- Supervise scissors and the paper punch. An adult may need to punch the holes for younger kids.

## Before you start
- Cut a chick shape (head and body in one piece) and bunny ears from card as templates, so kids can trace them.
- For younger kids, pre-cut the chick, wing and ear shapes from construction paper.

## Steps
1. Punch two holes on opposite sides of the Styrofoam bowl.
2. Push a pipe cleaner through the holes and twist the ends to make a handle. Be gentle so the holes don't tear.
3. Cut a head and body for the chick from yellow paper, plus two wings.
4. Glue the chick to the front of the bowl and a wing on each side.
5. For a bunny, glue paper ears to one side of the bowl and a cotton ball tail to the other.
6. Add the eyes, a beak for the chick and a nose for the bunny.
7. Fill the basket with Easter grass and go hunting for eggs!

## Tips
- Be gentle with the handle making, as the holes might tear up. Since we are using Styrofoam bowls, gentle should be our mantra!
- A perfect activity to do when you have company or you're hosting a crafty play date. It requires very minimal effort from parents and kids.
- No need to spend a ton at the craft store. This craft repurposes stuff lying around the house.

Oh how much we love baskets and bags. Not just for Easter. We are three women in the family and my 4 year old adores bags much more than I do. Which kid does not like carrying around a bag with "stuff" inside all the while feeling very important. Let's create a themed basket today. Today's Easter craft is simple enough for younger kids to carry out the craft almost independently Before we go on to our Easter craft, don't forget to visit our earlier Easter crafts and activities. Our Easter category features activities which are simple enough for the little hands to do and are a lot of fun. We have done a ***[Basket weaving craft](https://www.funlittles.com/easter-craft-paper-weaving-basket/)*** , ***[Easter Egg shell Painting](https://www.funlittles.com/easter-craft-with-a-toddler/), [Soap eggs](https://www.funlittles.com/easter-activities-soap-eggs/)*** that involves a ton of fine motor workout and provides fun. I love it when I don't have to spend a ton of money at a craft store for things I would occasionally use. I'm always trying to create and re purpose stuff lying around the house. This craft activity does just that.
