# Frozen Paint Indian Flag
> Freeze orange, white and green paint, then let kids rub the melting paint blocks onto an old towel to make a homemade Indian flag. It's a cool, messy painting activity for a hot day.

- Ages: 2–6 yrs · Difficulty: easy · Mess: high
- Time: prep 10 min, activity 30 min
- Works for: one-on-one, small group · one batch serves about 2 kids
- Skills: sensory-exploration, colors, fine-motor, flags
- Cautions: ingestion-risk

## Materials (one batch)
- Orange paint (frozen)
- White paint (frozen)
- Green paint (frozen)
- Blue paint
- Small cups or molds for freezing paint (household)
- Craft sticks or straws (optional) (household)
- 1 piece Old towel (household)
- 1 piece Stick or dowel for a flag pole (optional) (household)

## Safety
- Paint is not food. Frozen paint blocks can look like ice pops, so watch little ones closely and stop them from licking or mouthing them.
- Use washable, non-toxic kids' paint.
- Supervise painting play at all times.

## Before you start
- Pour orange, white and green paint into small cups, add a stick or straw to each as a handle, and freeze until solid.

## Steps
1. Take the frozen paint out of the freezer.
2. Lay an old towel flat on the ground outside.
3. Rub the orange paint blocks across the top part of the towel as they melt.
4. Fill the middle with the white paint.
5. Fill the bottom with the green paint.
6. Add a blue circle in the center of the white stripe.
7. Let the towel dry.
8. Put the flag on a stick and wave it!

## Tips
- Save this one for a hot day. Kids get some cool play while they paint.
- The frozen paint looks really beautiful straight out of the freezer.
- Older kids can follow where each color goes. Littler ones may just enjoy some awesome finger painting fun, and that's fine too.

Continuing with the patriotic theme for the week, we played with tri-colored frozen paint. Ha! Well then, we played ON an old towel and made a flag. Here is what we did. It was hot outside and kids needed some cool- play. I froze some orange, white and green paint. They looked really beautiful when they came out of the freezer. Got an old towel out and Big A got to melting the ice on the towel. She knows where each color goes now. Baby A – not so much, not so much of a rule follower as of now. While Baby A had some awesome finger painting fun, Big A worked on hers. And we ended up with this..
