# Spooky Hands Craft
> Kids trace and cut out their handprints from black paper, glue on orange triangle nails, then 'spookify' them with glitter glue and googly eyes. Add popsicle sticks to turn them into spooky hand puppets. It's great scissor practice.

- Ages: 3–6 yrs · Difficulty: easy · Mess: medium
- Time: prep 10 min, activity 30 min
- Works for: one-on-one, small group, whole class
- Skills: scissor-skills, fine-motor, tracing, creativity
- Cautions: ingestion-risk

## Materials (one batch)
- 1 sheet Black construction paper
- 1 sheet Orange construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Glitter glue
- 1 piece White school glue (household)
- 1 piece Kid scissors (household)
- 1 piece Paper edger scissors (optional)
- 1 piece Pencil or marker for tracing (household)
- Tissue paper (optional)
- 2 piece Popsicle sticks (optional)

## Substitutions
- Instead of googly eyes: Peel-and-stick googly eyes (The author suggests these for younger children.)
- Instead of paper edger scissors: Regular scissors and a wiggly traced outline (Trace with a little wiggle and cut along the bumpy line for the same spooky look.)

## Safety
- Googly eyes are small parts and a choking hazard. Supervise closely with young children; the author suggests peel-and-stick googly eyes for younger kids.
- Supervise scissor use, especially with preschoolers.
- Keep glitter glue away from eyes and mouths, and wash hands after.

## Steps
1. Trace your hand on black construction paper, or let a grown-up trace it. Add a little wiggle to the line to make it spooky.
2. Cut out the hand along the bumpy line, or trace normally and cut with paper edger scissors.
3. Draw small triangles on orange paper and cut them out. These are the nails.
4. Glue an orange nail onto the tip of each finger.
5. Spookify the hand with tons of glitter glue.
6. Stick on googly eyes all over the hand.
7. Optional: ball up bits of tissue paper and glue them on as warts.
8. Lay the hands flat until the glitter glue is dry.
9. Optional: attach a popsicle stick to the back of each hand to make a spooky hand puppet.

## Tips
- Trace with a little bit of wiggle to add to the spookiness of the handprint.
- This Halloween craft is a good exercise to practice those scissor skills.
- Try those peel and stick googly eyes for younger children.
- The orange nails can be made even spookier with black glitter glue.
- A big googly eye in the center just captures all the essence of Halloween.

Today's post is a super simple **Halloween craft all kids** will enjoy since it involves hand prints. What's more? They get to turn them into spooky hands! Materials

1. **[Construction Paper (Orange and Black)](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013NVA7K/?tag=blmemo-20)**
2. **[Googly Eyes](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000F8V66O/?tag=blmemo-20)**
3. **[Glitter Glu](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008M56YZU/?tag=blmemo-20)e**
4. **[Paper Edger Scissors](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003U6SNCI/?tag=blmemo-20) (optional)**

On an orange construction paper trace ( or your child can trace) his/her hand. Here you can choose 2 routes. Trace with a little bit of wiggle to add to the spookiness of the handprint and cut along the bumpy outline.

Or you can trace normally and use a paper edger scissors to cut out a bumpy hand print like we did. The below images will show you both the options. One cut with a regular scissors a and one done with a trimmer. This Halloween craft is a good exercise to practice those scissor skills.

After cutting out their hand print, the kids can draw small triangles and cut them out as well. These will be their spooky hands' nails.

The top pair are hands cut out using the trimming scissors

Then comes in lots of gluing. I can see this is a fantastic preschool craft for Halloween. Glue those orange nails on the black hand print cut out.

Then "decorate" or rather "spookify" the hands with tons of glitter glue and googly eyes. Try those peel and stick googly eyes for younger children.

You can use balled up tissue paper to serve as warts

The orange nails can also be made more spookier with black glitter glue.

The center googly eye just captures all the essence of Halloween in this spooky hand .

Add a couple of Popsicle sticks to the back of the hands and turn them into spooky hands puppets!
