A collection of 13 play recipes from TurkeyMom and fellow bloggers that use cornstarch (cornflour in the UK) as the main ingredient. They are grouped into art recipes (paints and clay) and sensory recipes (goop, doughs, snow and play sand).

⚠️ Safety first

  • Cornstarch comes from corn. Check for corn allergies before playing.
  • Taste-safe is not food: an accidental taste of a non-toxic recipe is no cause for panic, but don't let kids eat the paints or doughs. This matters most for look-alike treats such as ice cream dough.
  • If a linked recipe needs cooking or hot water, an adult handles the heat and checks that the mixture has cooled before kids touch it.
  • Spilled cornstarch and goop make floors and tubs slippery. Wipe up spills, and never leave kids alone in the bath during bathtub painting.
  • Supervise sensory play at all times.
