Cut elf boots from green cardstock using a printable template. Then decorate them collage-style with foil wrapping paper, gold stars, color dots, buttons, sequins, a red paper trim and a red pom pom. It's a simple, festive Christmas craft with plenty of cutting and fine motor practice.

⚠️ Safety first

  • Buttons, sequins, pom poms and star stickers are small parts and a choking hazard. Supervise closely and keep them away from children who still put things in their mouths.
  • Use child-safe scissors. An adult can cut out the boots for younger children.

Before the kids arrive

  • Print the elf boot template on green cardstock or construction paper, one per child.
  • For younger children, cut out the boots ahead of time.
  • Gather collage supplies, including leftover wrapping paper and tissue paper scraps.

Steps

  1. Print the elf boot template on green cardstock or construction paper.

  2. Cut out the boots, carefully following the curly toes and other details.

  3. Set out the collage supplies: foil wrapping paper, tissue paper, gold stars, color dots, buttons and sequins.

  4. Stick gold stars and color dots onto the boots.

  5. Cut small pieces of foil wrapping paper and tissue paper and glue them on.

  6. Glue on buttons and sequins to decorate.

  7. Cut a red trim from red paper and glue it along the top of each boot.

  8. Finish with a little red pom pom glued on the tip of the boot.

  9. Let the glue dry before moving the boots.

Elf Boots Craft: the original post

All the Christmas crafts we have done have been mostly been very simple and engaging. The kids did this Christmas craft about 2 years ago. Phew! We will start with a fun little elf craft to put everyone in a festive mood and slowly get into ornament making. We loved the Jingle Cars ornament we did a while ago. In the same lines, this Elf craft is going to be a fun and easy kid Christmas craft. Materials

After printing out the template on green cardstock or construction paper, cut out the feet/boots. It is a good practice for an older child to practice cutting along steep curves and other details.

We usually have a lot of collage supplies { since we pretty much throw away anything. That means we have a big collection of old wrapping paper, tissue papers. Aside those, we love the foil gold stars, buttons, foam stickers and of course sequins. I stock up on these basic craft supplies either from the local craft store or the dollar store. Sometimes when I need add-on items on Amazon, I almost always add craft supplies since I know we will be using them up.

creating elf boots crafts for kids

For this elf craft, I feel the foil wrapping paper worked really well as a collage material. Christmas crafts or any collage the kids make at home has got to have some shimmer and shine. I’m reminded of a sparkly hearts foil collage they did many moons ago as a Valentine’s day craft. Anyway, the reverse side of foil wrapping paper we had came in handy for this elf craft.

The kids also used the color dots, foil stars, sequins and buttons to decorate the elf boots or feet. They also cut out a red trim for the elf boots and finished off with a cute little red pom pom. Plenty of cutting and fine motor skills practice here.

such a nice platform to get this information. Shri Ram Global School is one of the schools which also provides this type of creativity to the students.

These things help children to open mind to do creative things. If children can think creative they can easily find ways when they are in trouble or they are able to take their decisions own.
