Fold a basket coffee filter into a cone, draw a cute ghost face with a black marker, then punch a hole and thread it to hang. Display the little ghosties on a fallen tree branch or string them into a banner.
Adult handles the stapler if you choose to staple the cones. Staples are small and sharp.
Help little ones with the hole punch so fingers don't get pinched.
Supervise children around string and thread, and hang finished ghosts out of reach of babies and toddlers.
If you collect a fallen branch, an adult should check it for sharp points, splinters and bugs before bringing it inside.
Before the kids arrive
Optional: find a fallen tree branch to display the finished ghosts.
Steps
Fold a basket coffee filter in half.
Fold it in half once more to make a cone.
Adult (optional): staple the cone so the edges don't fly.
Draw a cute, non-scary ghost face with the black marker.
Punch a hole above the face with the hole punch.
Thread a piece of string, yarn or sewing thread through the hole.
Hang your little ghosties from a fallen tree branch to display them.

The story behind it
By TurkeyMom · September 2014
Our first Halloween craft for the season! Yay! We are kicking off with a super simple and classic Halloween kids craft.
Fold a basket coffee filter in half, then once more to make a cone. Have the child draw a cute, non-scary ghost face, then make a hole above it and thread a string.
We used sewing thread to make the thread as light and "invisible" as possible. Ha! Those holes made by the puncher gave the ghosts additional charm!
We then found a fallen tree branch and used it as a prop to display our cute little ghosties.
Lay a black poster board behind the branch if using it indoors as decor, and draw a full moon and a bat flying. Ooooohh.. Spooky.
