Kids stick googly eyes on black construction-paper mummy cut-outs, then squeeze lines of glue across them to make bandages. It's a quick, artsy Halloween craft with a simple way to make it a keepsake.
Googly eyes are small parts and a choking hazard. Supervise closely, especially with kids who still mouth things.
Adult cuts out the mummy shapes ahead of time.
Glue and acrylic paint are not food. Keep them away from mouths and wash hands after the craft.
Before the kids arrive
Cut mummy (person) shapes from black construction paper.
Fill a squeeze bottle with glue and set out googly eyes.
Steps
Set out the mummy cut-outs, googly eyes and the glue squeeze bottle.
Stick two googly eyes on each mummy's head.
Draw eyelashes or other details on your mummy if you like.
Squeeze lines of glue back and forth across the mummy to make bandages.
Keep going until the head, arms and legs are all wrapped in glue lines.
Leave the mummies flat to dry.
Tips
The flow from squeeze bottles is so much smoother than from the glue bottle itself. The lines are cleaner, and it's easier for little ones to feel in control.from the author
This craft was clearly for fun and not for saving. To keep it, use a glue that dries white, not clear.from the author
You can add white acrylic paint to regular glue to get white mummy bandages.from the author
Make it your own
Once you have white glue mummies, punch holes and string them into a mummy garland for your mantle.
The story behind it
By TurkeyMom · October 2013
Time for another Halloween mummy craft, this time an artsy one with glue! I cut out mummy shapes with black construction paper and set out googly eyes with glue in a squeeze bottle.
We started off with sticking the googly eyes to the black construction paper mummies.
We always make sure we have 3 girls and 1 boy in our crafts! That's her drawing eye lashes on her mummies.
Then time to go to town with glue. The flow from the squeeze bottles is so much smoother than the flow from the glue bottle itself.
Our glue mummy family! The squeeze bottle lines are cleaner, and it is easier for little ones to feel they are in control of the bottle.
This craft was clearly for fun, not for saving. To save it, use glue that dries white, or add white acrylic paint to regular glue, then make a mummy garland.
